Because the ones that are on the kiosk, that's where the scammers may have already compromised them." "If you do want to pick one up from a store where they have those big kiosks, stop yourself and don't get it from the kiosk," Jayne Margesson with AARP Maine said. Scammers take them and record the card and pin numbers before putting the cards back on the shelf where customers, who are none the wiser, purchase them only to find out later that the money had been immediately drained once it was activated. The scam centers around gift cards that are openly displayed at kiosks in stores, like your local super market.
